2012: ♫ "So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night..." ♫
As we turn the page on another year, it is common to reflect on the previous days, weeks, and months that were presented to us in 2012. We celebrate the joys and sorrows of days gone by. For many this year may have been trying and unyielding to a positive outlook. However, I know that no matter what frustrations and difficulties that we may pass through that God is always in control. It is hard to comprehend at times that He does, indeed, work ALL things for our good~but nevertheless HE does. Part of having faith in God is trusting that we don't understand all the things that happen but that there is a purpose for everything under the sun; and hopefully one day we will know in full, as now we only know in part, all the things God has planned for us.
Now we are looking to a new year. The new year for many signifies a new start, a new beginning. This reminds me of a story I'd like to share. A couple had two sons. One son was pleasing to the Father and one son was not. Through jealousy and rage the older son killed the younger. I'm sure this family was devastated. They had lost two children. One to murder and one ran away as a fugitive. I cannot imagine what this mother and father must have felt...perhaps-despair, anger, hurt, grief, confusion, hopelessness, etc....; But God stepped in and gave them a new beginning.
"And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew." ~Genesis 4:25
This verse really spoke to me when I was reading one day. I looked up the definitions for "appointed" and for "seed". Here is what I found:
appointed: def:
*predetermined; arranged; set; provided with what is necessary; equipped; furnished
*to name or assign to a position, an office, or the like; designate
*to determine by authority or agreement; fix; set
seed: def:
*A ripened plant ovule containing an embryo
* A source or beginning
*Offspring
In this verse, Eve recognized that God had predetermined/arranged/equipped/designated/determined by authority for her another beginning(The place where something begins or is begun)...;
I believe that we too have that same promise. When things seem to not turn out the way we would hope or the way that we want them to, we can turn to the scripture and see that God is faithful. His Word says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8) He also said He is not a respecter of persons. So what He did for Adam & Eve-He can do for you and for me. Eve realized that God had provided for her and Adam a new beginning, and from that beginning came forth the generations of the world. Through the pain, let's look for our "appointed...seed". God is ready to give us a new start.
If you feel like you have lost something or someone precious this year, hold to this hope that God will arrange -by authority- for you a NEW beginning.
Paul tells us in Philippians 1:6 : "And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you."
Let us have faith and hope in knowing that God has a plan for us to prosper. He didn't promise there wouldn't be rain, but He did promise He would never leave us nor forsake us. So hold to that hope. HE has appointed-arranged- for you to have that NEW Beginning. It is hard to let go of the things of the past, but Paul tells us this "but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. ~Philippians 3:13-14
Remember this, you can't properly move forward if you are always looking at what is behind you. At some point your vision is compromised. You will no longer have a proper view of what is behind NOR what is in front of you. Just as you wouldn't drive down the road while constantly gazing in the rear view mirror...we shouldn't keep those things in the past constantly in the forefronts of our minds. Our focus should only be on what is ahead of us-on what is NEW. There is enough to keep us busy- focused on the here and now- and moving forward...we need to be aware of what is coming at us, not what has already past us by. Don't live life by looking behind you. If so, the only time you will recognize the good things that come will be in the rear view mirror after it has already passed you by.
There is a quote...“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” Don't allow the closed doors in life to ruin the open doors you haven't walked through yet.. You never know it may be the greatest experience you'll ever have. We need to learn to trust GOD. Allow HIM to direct our paths and show us the door to walk through; leave those things in the past and run towards the NEW goal which is ahead.
Perhaps we should forget the things that are behind and press on. We have a NEW year ahead of us. A NEW beginning. The only way to have that -true- NEW beginning is to have Jesus Christ in your life. [As we just celebrated HIS birth,we know the Bible tells us JESUS is the WORD (" the word was made flesh and dwelt among us" John 1:14). ] The Bible tells us in Luke 8:11 "The seed is the Word of God." The NEW beginning is Jesus Christ! Through JESUS we have a NEW beginning, a NEW life! Jesus said that HE came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10). It's time to start receiving these promises that have been given to us freely by the Word of God!
If you are looking for a fresh start, a new beginning, look to Jesus. He is truly a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He will give you NEW life, all you have to do is ask. And who doesn't love something brand NEW? The Bible says "The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]." Psalm 37:23 Delight yourself in the Lord, for He has established your steps. Leap into in the new year with confidence that God is working all things for your good!
He has given you a NEW beginning...Now, will you step into it?
"For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome."~Jeremiah 29:11 AMP
Don't go into 2013 without HIM!
BE Blessed, Step into God's NEW plan & have a Happy NEW Year!
